Water Treatment

Today we went to the open house held at Longmont’s new water treatment plant and had a little tour. It was a geeky little group – me, my husband the mechanical engineer with his long career in risk analysis for nuclear power plants, and an electrical engineer turned software engineer. The plant is very neat. My youngest was especially impressed by the serpentine basins with gigantic, slowly rotating paddles; he speculated on how gory your death would be if you fell in there. He also wondered how they would know if we were really Albanian industrial spies. I found the computer control systems very similar to satellite command and telemetry consoles.

Man, I was going to go to that… but I got all caught up in watching CU (and then UCLA) get its butt kicked. Spectacularly, it must be said.
