I’ve been sucked into a cult, but I don’t know if it’ll stick.
At work they offered a Getting Things Done course. Suddenly people are walking around raving, yes, raving, about their inboxes being empty. They all have label makers on their desks. Their engineering notebook pages all have big Xes on them (for processed).
Since there was overhead money left in the budget, I took the class this Thursday and Friday. Then I went for a little surf around the internet, searching on “GTD” and whatever (Outlook, Gmail, web-based, etc). One of my primary goals was to figure out if this was a cult, and lo and behold, it is.
Somebody come in and pull me out if I get weird. On the other hand, my 400 email inbox is now down to 24, and I’ve finally learned some new things about Outlook tasks (which I had resisted learning, because I don’t want to use Outlook).

Funny… I could’ve sworn I remember reading about you having this same experience not that long ago. Maybe as much as a year?
Really? Not this course, certainly, but resolving to get organized is right up there with resolving to lose weight, exercise regularly, and get a good night’s sleep.
I’ll have to go hunting, now.
Here it is: Blank Anxiety.
Scary.
