On the one hand, I’ve been really busy and haven’t been posting much – a situation which is unlikely to improve for at least a couple of weeks since I’m doing the single mom thing temporarily.

On the other hand, nobody else seems to be updating much either – has there been a collective attack of Real Life?

I got to ride in a hot air balloon on Saturday – definitely a reward for spontaneity. Youngest Son and I were driving back from a soccer game at twilight, when we saw the ReMax balloon in Roger’s Grove lighting up. Youngest Son likes that sort of thing (fire, flying, things that start with “f”), so I pulled a U-turn and stopped. We ambled over to the balloon, which was tethered to a couple of trees and a pickup truck, talked to the Balloon Guy for a few minutes, and were invited in. He turned on the burner, and before I knew it, the guy on the ground was Really Tiny. It was very quiet, except for the burner, and very gentle motion, and looking up into the balloon as it was lit up by the torch in the night was awesome.

Youngest Son was ecstatic.

I occasionally have very vivid dreams about hot-air ballooning, which I have never done.

One of these days I’m just going to have to do it, to see if the dreams are at all accurate.

    …”collective attack of Real Life?”

Yeah, that might be it. At least, it is for me: the end of a major project at work and the start of a new one, studying for finals for Summer classes and then Fall classes beginning. And I started an exercise program, so I’ve been swamped. Just recently it’s felt like life is slowly returnign back to normal, so I may be updating a little more frequently.
