Cables and MT

Last weekend I moved everything around, disconnected and connected everything, and tied it all up real pretty-like. This week, lo and behold, my wireless connection, previously steady as a rock, drops every 30 seconds or so. Little lights continue to blink and be happy, but my computer says the connection’s down. Very irritating.

So far I’ve freed the wireless access point cables from each other, and moved the wireless access point away from the hub and the router, but it’s not better. I’m out of ideas.

My other problem is with Movable Type. It’s version 2.63, and I’m using Opera 6 on Windows XP Pro. I log in, and the first time I save something (an entry, a template, whatever), the log-in screen pops up again and I have to log in again. So if it was a new entry, it never gets around to sending its pings. I’ve started pulling up the stylesheet and saving it first thing to get the second log in over with, but that’s getting irritating. I do accept cookies, and it doesn’t seem to matter whether I’m accepting pop-ups or not. Anybody know why it does this?

No, I don’t know why it does it — but it does it to me too, and I find it as annoying as you do. Just another data point.

I found something about this in the MT support forum (and of course, now I can’t find it again), but the gist of it was that if your CGIPath in mt.cfg is http://www.brokenclay.org/mt.cgi and you go to http://brokenclay.org/mt.cgi instead, then you’ll need to re-authenticate once.

I checked it and it worked correctly when I used “www” (I cleared cookies in between). Now I’m going to try changing mt.cfg.
