I was so disappointed to read today that the Master Chorale of Washington is closing up shop. The Master Chorale began life as the Paul Hill Chorale. I was fortunate enough to sing under Paul Hill at Georgetown University, and he was one of the great choral conductors and a really nice person. We toured with him to North Carolina, where we sang in Duke University’s beautiful chapel, at my alma mater, the College of William and Mary, we toured Biltmore, and we spent some time with Paul’s wife’s family and friends in Asheville, who fed us enough Seventh Day Adventist vegetarian food and pie for six choruses.
