How much war news is too much? How many hours can be filled saying the same thing over and over again? All of them, apparently.
I like listening to Morning Edition and All Things Considered while driving to and from work, but I’m going to have to figure out some way to condense my intake of war news into one short period per day. This does not mean that I am an uninterested citizen; far from it. The modern way of obsessing over news rather than reporting and analyzing it is not doing the citizenry any good.
Yesterday All Things Considered presented a man-in-the-street piece in which the phrase “supporting our troops” was used as if it were synonymous with “supporting this war”. When did that happen?
